Great pictures! This is a great calendar for any car fan. The quality of the paper is pretty good. Not like some calendars that are made of cheap, thin sheets. At the same time, the paper isn't too thick so you know you didn't overpay for ultra-high quality paper that you are going to throw away anyways. I would recommend this calendar. I am so mad I bought this book! Don't make the same mistake. Reasons I am disappointed:1. NOT a guidebook on Santa Barbara. A guidebook on the central coast with a section on Santa Barbara but an obvious preference for San Luis Obispo and surrounding areas.2. Pretty layout and pretty pictures but if I wanted a coffee table book, I would have bought one that was more suitable for the job.3. Information is weak - I can get better information on tripadvisor and better images on Google. I was hoping for some real insider tips that would spare me reading a bunch of reviews on tripadvisor, but no such luck.Seriously, don't bother.

As a fellow journalist, I appreciate information that cuts to the chase and gives me great information about what I need to know when I visit a new area. Great details without info that wastes my time.

I live near LA and picked up this book because I enjoy going to the Santa Barbara area and Paso Robles wine country. I love this guide's emphasis on nature getaways and sustainable, farm to table eating. Some really cool spots to check out, like upscale camping in El Capitan Canyon right off the beach. The Big Sur chapter is great, too.

My partner and I picked up this delightful guide in preparation for our trip to Big Sur and the Santa Barbara Area. Wares details some great places that are not part of the typical tourist destinations. The chapter on the Big Sur left us wanting more, and yearning for our trip to start. This guide has prepared us well in the planning and will serve us well when we are on our trip. I recommend this highly for travelers and natives alike to explore this lovely area of California.

She discusses the events in her homeland that led her family to emigrate, their adjustment to life in Vancouver, and her parents' struggles to build the Goh Ballet Company. She had amazing successes at international ballet competitions, earned a place with the American Ballet Theatre, but instead decided to accept a position with the National Ballet of Canada, where she quickly rose in the ranks. The tone of the book is overwhelmingly positive, but Goh does discuss some disappointments and hardships. The impression is that she has led somewhat of a charmed life, though it couldn't really have been as easy as it seems. My daughter (6th grade and an aspiring dancer) was required to read a non-fiction work for a book report. This fit the bill perfectly. It appealed to her love of dance, and was appropriate for her age and reading level. She loved the book, and it opened the door to conversations about history the role government plays in society, capitalism vs communism, and the kind of dedication and LUCK required to make it as a dancer.

I loved this book! It's a rather quick read, but very interesting. Since it's a mix between Chan Hon Goh's personal journey as a Chinese immigrant and her journey as a ballet dancer, I was concerned about either aspect of the book seeming less interesting than the other. This was not the case at all, and Goh managed to intertwine these two aspects of her life in a very interesting and enjoyable way. The many photos were also beautiful to look at. The cover mentions a children's book prize, but I really think the book would appeal to almost anyone. Definitely recommended!
