The Amazon Echo is one of my favorite digital device. I am glad there are books like this which helps the user to better understand the device and fully utilize its function.The author tries to clarify a lot of things just as he tries to explain a lot of functionalities in details. The book is quite expository.
A very simply well written guide on the use of Amazon Echo. There is an explanation of how to identify a sound or how to store it and it is most useful as a guide to Amazon Echo. It is written clear and comfortable and understood. When buying an echo you know a few basic things it should do, but when 70% of the stuff isn't listed, it is a complete waste to not buy a book like this and learn how to get the full potential out of this wondrous piece of technology! I recommend!
What I noticed about this book is it reminded me of when I first started writing papers in college. In high school we didn't have to have as many pages as we did in college, so, I'd have to shoot the bull and repeat stuff over and over just to get to the proper number of pages.This book is mostly a sales pitch that is so repetitive that I found it painful to read. And the proofing wasn't really top notch either as there are numerous typos. As for the information in it, well, there is some but it takes a lot of patience to get to it. And I don't believe it's all that up to date either as I find reading product information on Amazon to be a lot more informative. Also, there are a lot more options on things that works with Echo and Dot that are not mentioned. And as for instructions on setting things up, forget it.Two thumbs down on this book. I don't recommend it.
This book wasn't even worth the 99 cents I paid for it. Despite the author's American sounding name, this person is clearly not a native English speaker. To give you an idea how bad the writing is, take a look at the other reviews for this book. You'll notice that none of five-star reviews contain grammatically correct sentences, and many of them don't even make sense. This entire book is like those reviews. Even if this person had paid an editor, the book wouldn't be worth it. The author repeats himself a lot. Some of the information seems to have simply been lifted from the product listing or from advertising. It's stunningly bad. A junior high school student could have done a better job of writing a book on the Amazon Echo and had far fewer grammatical errors. It's a shame people are being duped into buying this book based on ratings, obviously fake reviews, and the "best seller" claim on the front cover.Sadly, I am sensing a trend with books like this one, written by non-native English speakers, who manage to fill up a lot of pages with paragraph after paragraph of nonsense, but conveniently getting five-star reviews, most of which are so poorly written that they are truly laughable. Amazon clearly has no standards when it comes to publishing ebooks, sadly. My advice is to get a sample before purchasing any book. I know I will be more careful from now on so as not to waste my money.
